How much money is in the Trust?
The amount of money available for distribution in the Trust will vary depending on a range of factors. Under the Olympic Dam Agreement, BHP will put funds into the Trust for the remaining life of the Olympic Dam Operations based on a formula which takes into account the rate of growth of the Operations and the income they earn. Sometimes the funds run out, pending receipt of the next round of funding from BHP under the Olympic Dam Agreement.
What can the Trust be used for?
The Trust Advisory Council will make funds available for particular charitable purposes from time to time. The Trust can only be used for a specific list of charitable purposes. See the Trust Purpose
What can’t the Trust be used for?
The Trust can’t be used for things that are not for a defined charitable purpose. Also, the Trust does not allow for cash payments to individuals.

Will my application be successful?
As there is only a limited amount of money available not everyone’s application will be successful, particularly first time round. Sometimes applicants will only receive a portion of the money they applied for.
If my application is successful, will the money be paid to me or direct to a supplier?
In most cases, if your application is successful the Trustee will pay the invoice direct to the supplier.
If my application is unsuccessful, can I apply again?
Yes, you can apply if and when applications open for that charitable purpose, or for any new initiatives.
Can I contact the Trustee direct?
It’s best that you don’t contact the Trustee direct. The Trustee can only accept recommendations from your Management Committee or the TAC so if you have any questions you should contact your Management Committee representative or Penny Woodforde on (08) 8691 9813.
